Caption: “KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. – Vice President Spiro Agnew scans Apollo 10 mission flight plan within the Launch Control Center shortly before astronauts Thomas P. Stafford, John W. Young, and Eugene A. Cernan were launched on a lunar orbit mission from the Spaceport’s Launch Complex 39B at 12:49 p.m., DST, May 18, 1969. With the Vice President are, left-to-right, Neil A. Armstrong, Apollo 11 commander; Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., Apollo 11 lunar module pilot; and William A. Anders, Apollo 8 lunar module pilot. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration directs the Apollo program.”
