Caption: “LUNAR MODULE AS SEEN FROM THE COMMAND MODULE
This view of the Lunar Module is partially obscured by the reflection in the window of a portion of an astronaut’s suit and a part of the Command Module’s control panel. The sun is shining on the bottom of the descent stage and on the bottom of the landing pads. Close inspection of the photograph reveals the long probes extending from each pad. These devices will shut down the descent engine as soon as one of them touches the lunar surface. The front of the Lunar Module is facing the camera in this photograph. The ladder and the main exit hatch are clearly outlined by bright reflections. Above the hatch, the dimly lighted circular object is the retaining ring surrounding the flasher used during rendezvous operations. The cockpit windows of the Lunar Module can be dimly seen as irregularly-shaped patches on both sides of the flasher.”
