Recycled book bag competition judges (from left) Weatherford Economic Development Director Chuck Dougherty, Director of Parks, Recreation & Water Trent Perkins and Mayor Mike Brown served as judges of the recycled book bag competition held during Recycle America Day held November 17 on the Southwestern Oklahoma State University campus in Weatherford. The judges inspect one of the winning bags, created by Veronica Wilson and made from old car seat belts with an air bag lining. The other winning bag was created by Heather Leach who made one from plastic shopping bags with interior pouches for pens, pencils and a cell phone. The students had the contest for the most innovative book bag from recycled products. Both Wilson and Leach each received a $150 gift card from the SWOSU Follett Bookstore compliments of the Collegiate Activities Board.
