JOHNSON SPACE CENTER, HOUSTON, TEXAS

ASTP COMMUNICATIONS TRAINING – Two members of the American ASTP crew participate in communication training for the joint U. S. – USSR Apollo-Soyuz Test Project mission scheduled for next summer. They are, left to right, Astronauts Donald K. Slayton, docking module pilot, and Thomas P. Stafford, commander. The two crewmen are seated in one of the support rooms in the Mission Control Center, Building 30, at the Johnson Space Center. The training exercise simulated communications between the Apollo and Soyuz spacecraft in Earth orbit. The Soviet ASTP Soyuz crewmen were seated at a console in another MCC support room.
