CAPE KENNEDY, FLA. – An attempt was made to launch Gemini 6 from Pad 15 at 9:54 a.m. (EST) today. However, seconds after ignition, the first stage engine of the Gemini launch vehicle 6 shutdown due to a faculty release of a liftoff umbilical plug. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has planned Gemini 6, a two-day mission in space for Gemini 6 Astronauts Walter M. Schirra, Jr., command pilot, and Thomas P. Stafford, pilot.
