CAPE KENNEDY, FLA. – Astronauts Walter M. Schirra, Jr., (right), command pilot, and Thomas P. Stafford, pilot, take a momentary rest in the White Room atop pad 19 prior to entering their spacecraft during the Gemini 6 pre-launch countdown. Moments later, NASA and McDonnell technicians assisted in the insertion. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration successfully launched Gemini 6 at 8:37 a.m., (EST) today. December 15, 1965. An attempt will be made to rendezvous Gemini 6 with Gemini 7.
