CAPE KENNEDY, FLA. – Astronaut Thomas P. Stafford, pilot of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s Gemini 6 space flight, serves as co-pilot of the Air Force plane flying the Gemini 6 crew from Bermuda to Cape Kennedy. Astronauts Stafford and Walter M. Schirra, Jr., are scheduled for three days are debriefing at the Kennedy Space Center before proceeding on to the Manned Spaceflight Center at Houston. The Gemini 6 spacecraft splashed down about 12 miles from aircraft carrier U.S.S. Wasp in the western Atlantic recovery area at 10:29 a.m. (EST) on December 16, 1965 after a highly successful 25 hr. 52 min. mission in space.
